Stump grinding is a process where our Hughes Landscaping Team uses a specialized machine called a stump grinder to grind the tree stump down to ground level. The grinder has a cutting wheel with sharp teeth that chips away at the wood fibers of the stump, gradually reducing it to sawdust. The sawdust can then be used as mulch or disposed of. The process of stump grinding is a cost-effective and efficient way to remove tree stumps, but it does not remove the entire root system of the tree, so it may grow back.
Tree stump removal, on the other hand, is a process where our Team uses various tools and techniques to remove the entire stump, including the root system, from the ground. This method is more labor-intensive and may require the use of heavy equipment such as a backhoe or excavator. The removed stump and roots can be taken off-site for disposal. This method is more permanent but it is also more expensive than stump grinding.
Both methods can be used to remove unsightly or unwanted tree stumps and to make the area around the stump suitable for landscaping or other uses. Some companies also offer additional services such as tree removal, land clearing, and debris removal.
